In his exhibition, the artist Daniel Lisson takes us on a visual rollercoaster ride through almost 20 years of his creative work that has never been seen before.

We cordially invite you to the vernissage. It will take place on May 15, 2025 from 7.00 pm.

Over the coming months and with every visit to the café, he will charmingly whisk us through the phases of his work, giving the impression that we are in a group exhibition. However, his works - as different as they may be - spring from a single, bustling mind that loves to lose itself in a kaleidoscope of colors, shapes, ideas and exaggerated figures.

Daniel Lisson is a visual artist and works in his studio in Cologne's KunstWerk, the largest self-managed artists' house in Germany. Here he develops a versatile oeuvre between screen printing, illustration, painting and lettering, which always explores space and depth and is characterized by precise craftsmanship.

With the COLORS and the CREATURES, Lisson describes the two poles of his work between abstraction and figuration. In his works from the COLORS series, he creates a dialogue between color, texture and light. Each work is an interplay of movement and stillness, depth and surface, chance and construction. Lisson prints, cuts, tears, sprays and arranges - drawing attention to small details such as color gradients and transparencies.
His works are an expression of joy, hope and gratitude, he says. The result is indeed lively and light. His figurative CREATURES works combine elements of comic and graffiti culture with Lisson's love of the hand-drawn line. The iconic figures - detailed, colorful and humorously exaggerated - are more than just illustrations: they are character studies that combine childlike freedom with adult accuracy.

The exhibition is an invitation to engage with the many facets, to revel in the works and to send your inner child, but also your adult self, on a journey of discovery.
