Violence

In the organizer's words:

What is the violence we cannot see, and what can we do about it?

According to Slavoj Žižek, the solution lies in observing, studying, and reflecting.
Our first impulse came from Žižek's text. It was particularly intriguing that he structured the chapters of his book according to musical tempos! What stayed with us was the concept of objective violence-also known as structural violence, the kind of violence that remains unseen.
This led us to a crucial question: Why do we not see it? And how can we make this state-of being subjected to violence without recognizing it-something tangible and perceptible?
Through critical questioning, we explore possible connections and attempt to outline potential solutions.
Violence is a dance-theater installation based on Slavoj Žižek's concept of objective violence and inspired an works from Nadia Kaabi-Linke and Philipp Lachenmann. Artists Anete Colacioppo, Geraldo Si, and René Knightbusch challenge the audience's perception, making this invisible form of violence palpable.
As societies undergo constant transformation, structures of power and oppression shift as well. Some forms of violence become more apparent, while others remain deeply embedded in social, economic, and political systems. By bringing these hidden mechanisms to light, Violence invites reflection on the unseen forces shaping our world-and the role we play within them.
