VIVAT MESSI / Westwind Festival

VIVAT MESSI - a dance theater spectacle about soccer - Spitfire Company, Czech Republic and Kenya - in German and English - international guest performance as part of the Westwind Festival 2025 - ages 8+ - on May 31, 2025 at 6:30 pm - Münsterstraße 446, stage

When I was nervous, I picked up a soccer and kicked it. I thought about what I could make a ball out of. I realized that I couldn't change everything around me, but I could change myself. If Messi could do it, so could I.

If you learn how to handle a ball, you learn how to handle people. And if you fail? You try again and again ... until you can do it. When soccer meets art, it becomes freestyle. This production is about soccer, Messi and freestyle. And about how important it is to have heroes and to follow your dreams.

Freestyle soccer world champion Daniel Pražák, Austin Njuguna Maina and Martin Kibera Gakonde meet DJ and musician badfocus on stage to tell a story about determination, will and the desire to follow your dream. Petr Boháč and Miřenka Čechová take up the form of multi-genre performance for which they have received awards in the past, including Best of in the Washington Post and the Fringe First Award presented by the world's largest theater festival. They have performed worldwide from Stockholm to Johannesburg and from New York to Shanghai.
