VIVIEN GOLDMAN: Musikalische Lesung + Konzert (tba)

In the organizer's words:

Punk icon Vivien Goldman is coming back to Germany!

Punk professor and icon Vivien Goldman, known as a musician (The Flying Lizards, The Slits etc.), author (including "The Revenge of the She-Punks: A Feminist History of Music from Poly Styrene to Pussy Riot") and Bob Marley confidante and biographer, is coming back to Germany for a few gigs in June 2025.

The busy lady's last music album "Next Is Now" was released in 2022, the German translation of her book "Die Rache der She-Punks" in 2021, followed shortly afterwards by the corresponding compilation on vinyl.

Her latest book "Rebel Musix, Scribe on a Vibe: Frontline Adventures Linking Punk, Reggae, Afrobeat and Jazz" was published in fall 2024.

Rebel Musix brings together the best writing from Vivien Goldman's career as a pioneering music writer at Sounds, NME, Melody Maker and other music publications from her four decades on the frontline of radical subculture.

From her beginnings in the seventies, hanging out in squats in Brixton and Notting Hill with the Slits, Dennis Bovell and John Lydon, to downtown New York, Lagos with Fela Kuti and Kingston, Jamaica with Bob Marley and Lee "Scratch" Perry, Goldman has traveled the world, lived in a variety of places and met the most important musicians of different decades and musical styles.

The collected works document the career of a writer who was always ready to turn to the sound of the street and the underground, be it punk, reggae, funk or Afrobeat.

Vivien Goldman was and is in many ways ahead of her time as a radical feminist thinker and artist.
A musician, artist, journalist and writer who has always been close to the beat of the times and whose influence on pop culture is still current and omnipresent.

Her appearances promise to be an interesting mixture of reading, talk and music performance.
Anyone who has not yet experienced this special lady live should make up for it!
