Musical fairy tale by Katharina Grosch and Malcolm Kemp
World premiere
When Mara and Kai can't fall asleep, it's time for the rubber duck. It can tell the most exciting stories. For example, the one about the fisherman, his wife and a magic fish.
Imagine if all your wishes could be granted by a magical creature! Mara and Kai find out what that's like on their turbulent journey into the underwater world of Butt and Crab. In the process, they learn about the joys and dangers of wishing. The Low German fairy tale "Van den Fischer un siine Fru" by Philipp Otto Runge is one of the best-known German folk tales. Katharina Grosch's humorous and original adaptation combines the fairy tale with the lives of two children. The opulent aesthetics of set designer Sina Manthey and the compositions of musician Malcolm Kemp create a fabulous fantasy world.
