Von Chemnitz in die Welt – Eröffnungskonzert des MDR-Musiksommers

The MDR Music Summer opens its 34th concert series in the European Capital of Culture 2025 in glorious style. Together with the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra, soprano Fatma Said and Omar Massa on the bandoneon, the MDR Symphony Orchestra will present a colorful program characterized by South American sounds, in which the bandoneon, whose origins lie in 19th century Chemnitz, takes a representative place. Marcus Merkel, one of the most interesting young German conductors of the present day, has taken on the overall musical direction.
