"Von Grenzen, Flucht und Identität. Comics aus dem Sommerkurs „Das geteilte Deutschland“ 2022 und 2023 im Rahmen der Tage des Exils 2025" Ausstellung

In the organizer's words:

The exhibition shows comics created during the summer course "Divided Germany". The summer course took place in 2022 and 2023 as part of the federally funded project "FREMD? German history of division and unification" by GRENZHUS Schlagsdorf /Politische Memoriale e.V. and was aimed specifically at young migrants.

In the first part of the course at GRENZHUS Schlagsdorf, the participants of the summer course dealt with the history of German division and unification between 1945 and 1990 and, in the second part of the course, explored the topic artistically together with the comic author Birgit Weyhe.

The special thing about the courses was that young people with their own experience of migration talked about their experiences and turned them into comics. The results are very different comics about borders, flight and identity, which are touching and invite you to reflect, but also to smile. In contrast to the charged political debates about immigration and integration, young people talk about their views and encourage a change of perspective.

The exhibition takes place in cooperation with GRENZHUS Schlagsdorf and Kulturhaus Süderelbe e.V.
