Flowers, skin and transience - an encounter.

In her installation "von hier", Munich-based photographer and video artist Franziska Schrödinger focuses on a motif that is both art-historically charged and everyday, almost kitschy: the flower. But in their juxtaposition, a field of tension unfolds between life and death, memory and identity.

On the one hand: artistically painted skulls from Dingolfing and Hallstatt - decorated with floral patterns, yet rigid, timeless, enraptured. On the other side: floral tattoos on living skin - warm, shiny, in subtle movement. What do these images tell us about transience? What role do tattoos play in identity and self-determination? And how do the skulls bearing names and dates of death position themselves - as mere relics or as an active part of the culture of remembrance?

But the questions go further: how do we perceive traditions when we do not look at them from the outside, but are part of them ourselves? The "von hier" exhibition challenges viewers to see familiar images with new eyes - and invites them to explore the boundaries between the familiar and the strange, between transience and vitality.
