Introducing the magnificent new orchestral conducting duo of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Petr Popelka. The Czech, who incidentally was deputy principal double bass of the Staatskapelle Dresden until 2020, is considered a shooting star on the podium. The musicians have audience repertoire favorites in their luggage: after opening with Beethoven, the orchestra under the baton of its leader delves into late Romantic musical worlds. Korngold's virtuoso and beautiful-sounding violin concerto is in the best hands with French star violinist Renaud Capuçon. The second half of the concert is characterized by the sounds of waltzes, beginning with the famous "Dynamiden" waltz by Josef Strauss and ending with Richard Strauss' lively and ambiguous "Rosenkavalier" suite, which was premiered by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in 1946.
