What has changed since the legalization of prostitution? Germany is considered the brothel of Europe. There is no doubt that the proportion of foreign women who are exploited in legal prostitution establishments under coercion and pressure is very high.

Is it possible to make a clear distinction between forced and voluntary prostitution and would more police control help to protect the women concerned and identify the perpetrators?

Elke Bartels, who holds a doctorate in law and was Duisburg's police commissioner for over ten years, will report on her experiences from many years of police work in her lecture. In particular, she will shed light on the realities of prostitution and human trafficking in a concrete and vivid way, and will finally address the question of what conclusions can be drawn from this.
