The lecture focuses on the conflict-ridden German-Ottoman museum relations between 1898 and 1918. Documents from German and Turkish archives shed light on the appropriation and transfer of antiquities and Islamic art to local museum collections. They open up new perspectives on the bilateral connections and uncover previously unknown processes, negotiation threads and networks.
