Voyager Golden Record

PICK OF THE DAY Theater
In the organizer's words:

Is there anyone out there? And if not, why? Who am I? Who are we? And if so, why? And then what? And then what?

In 1977, the space agency NASA sends two space probes into space: the Voyager mission is born. Both probes carry a gold-plated record with information about humanity for communication with possible extraterrestrial life. With pictures, graphics, greetings, music and sounds, the Voyager Golden Record tells of us humans, who we are, who we were, who we will be. To those, them, out there, sitting and waiting or never having been.

Contact with these space probes will continue until around mid-2025. In order to send something behind at the last moment before it's finally over, Staatstheater ensemble member Nikolai Gemel is developing a personal program with his colleague Sebastian Doppelbauer on the topics he missed on the original record: The theater and love.

Equipped and furnished by Margarete Albinger and Rahel Künzi, the two go on a search for meaning full of significance and irrelevance. To say goodbye and leave something behind, to them, there in space, in infinity, in impossibility.
