A demonic being of indeterminate age and gender, at home in two worlds: this is the Old High German "hagzissa", Middle High German "hecse", Modern High German "Hexe". She sits on a fence, a "hag". She has one foot in the cultivated world and the other in the wilderness - or one foot in the world of the living and the other in the world of the dead. Originally she rides on a fence rail, which later becomes a witch's broom. She is not initially in league with the devil, but she is the only one who has insight into both worlds, while the living and the dead are dependent on what the "hag" that separates them from each other lets through to them.

In a scenic-musical reading conducted by Vincent Andreas, the Nikolassee Chamber Choir, accompanied by a chamber ensemble consisting of three flutes, trombone, double bass, piano and percussion, devotes itself entirely to this dazzling figure in literary history: from the witch Circe in Homer's Odyssey to the witches in the Grimm fairy tales, the witches on the Blocksberg in Goethe's Faust I and Bibi Blocksberg.

Actress and director Susanna Bonasewicz, known as the voice of Nanny Fran Fine, Princess Leia and, of course, Bibi Blocksberg, has been recruited as the narrator.
