Walter Bockmayer – Der andere Millowitsch (UA)

In the organizer's words:

He was the Millowitsch of the subculture, the Cologne Fassbinder: Walter Bockmayer. In 1984, he opened the "Filmdose" in the Kwartier Lateng - the restaurant quickly became famous, mainly due to the theater performances that Bockmayer staged there - and with him, actors who were still unknown at the time: Hella von Sinnen, Dirk Bach, Ralph Morgenstern and many more. Bockmayer and his "family" were the avant-garde of Cologne's queerness and cemented Cologne's reputation as the gay capital. The Petra P. production office remembers an artist and person to whom it owes a great deal. Who combined trash with high culture in his films and productions - a driven man, a doer, a courageous egomaniac who didn't care what others thought of him.
