The tour: This time we start at 11.00 am at 2 starting points. On the one hand at the bus stop Burgker Straße Freital and parallel to it at the parking lot at the Semmeringbahn and meet shortly afterwards. After a short welcome, our hike begins, which first takes us through the Kaitzgrund up to Cunnersdorf. From there, we wander across the wide field with sweeping views of the valley until we reach the Marienschacht. This technical and historical monument is a reminder that hard coal was once mined here and that coal was later mined for uranium until it was shut down in 1989. We then take the Guido Brescius Trail, which is the former route of the Windbergbahn railroad, which once provided a connection to the rail network. At a junction, our path leads downhill through a small green forest until we reach the village of Kleinnaundorf. Here, a cozy spot by the village pond invites you to take a longer break. If you like, you can eat some of your own provisions here. The Kaitzbach spring can also be discovered not far from the rest area. After the break, we leave the village and follow a natural path in the direction of Windberg until we reach the former site of the Segen-Gottes-Schacht. Here, a miner's memorial commemorates the mining accident of 1869. Our route continues along winding paths through the nature reserve above the Windberg to the Windberg memorial viewpoint. The monument was once erected in honor of the last Saxon king, Albert. Here we enjoy a wonderful view over the 103-year-old town of Freital and treat ourselves to a short break on the benches under the shady trees. Our return route then takes us back towards the Windbergbahn railroad embankment, which we follow until we reach the starting point on Burgker Straße. At the end of the event, there is an opportunity to round off the day with a drink in the nearby beer garden of the "Hopfenblüte" restaurant.
