WANTED Eurydike [PREMIERE!]

In the organizer's words:

WANTED Eurydice

Lehmann and Wenzel [Leipzig]

A vast landscape. A spectacular sunset on the horizon. We hear the sound of a horse's hooves and see smoke rising in the distance. That's where the hero is riding to with his guitar on his back. It is Orpheus on his way to Eurydice in the underworld.

After 10 years of continuous creative work and many artistic encounters, Lehmann and Wenzel will be on stage together again for the first time. Following on from their first stage play together, in which the beloved dies at the end, they now set off into the underworld to bring back the lost one.

Orpheus, with his miraculous instrument, beguiles everyone and everything. Even the gods. He is allowed to bring back his deceased Eurydice. The deal: don't look back. He fails and thus seals the couple's fate. Why does Orpheus turn around in the end? Is it out of worry, lust or does Orpheus know that he needs Eurydice's suffering to become an unforgotten artist?

Lehmann and Wenzel play the band. They load themselves up with banjo, spoon and lap steel guitar and rummage through the Orpheus adaptations from 1850 to the present day. The duo fire out farewell ballads and outdo themselves in melancholy. So that we all weep.
