After tireless guest performances at the Theater im Bauturm, Dalia Schaechter, ensemble member and Kammersängerin at the Cologne Opera since 1995, now conceives for the first time a musical evening specifically for the small stage on Aachener Straße. Together with the young pianist Boaz Krauzer from Tel Aviv, she is developing a wild revue of music from the Jewish diaspora: from lullabies and protest songs to mystical hymns and political chansons to Arabic crossover sounds and showtunes from Broadway, from Mordechai Gebirtig to Irving Berlin and George Gershwin to Mordechai Zeira, from intimate manifestation to extroverted glamour to the evocation of the lost homeland in song. Supported by her four-piece band, Dalia Schaechter unfolds in Warsaw - New York - Tel Aviv the sonic panorama of a musical tradition that is as rich as it is diverse, and invites the listener to explore Jewish music beyond klezmer.
