On June 3, 1945, the bodies of seven people were buried on Hansaring. They had been murdered in the nearby Klingelpütz prison before liberation. Their grave is the first memorial in Cologne to commemorate the victims of Nazi rule.

What role did the memorial play in the early commemoration of the crimes in Klingelpütz and National Socialism in Cologne? Which actors campaigned for it? And how has its significance in the city's culture of remembrance changed? In a lecture followed by a discussion, Janne Grashoff, Dr. Jan Neubauer and Dr. Thomas Roth (all NS-DOK) will explore these questions.
