The historian Xu Jilin, one of the country's most renowned intellectuals (his book Aufklärung und Anti-Aufklärung im China der Gegenwart will be published in September), talks to the constitutional lawyer and former President of the Federal Constitutional Court Andreas Voßkuhle ("Europe, Democracy, Constitutional Courts") and the China expert Daniel Leese ("Contemporary Chinese Thought") about what holds societies in the East and West together and which institutions and values help to implement the upcoming transformation movements.
