"PAUL" is an ingeniously simple invention by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Franz-Bernd Frechen that enables people in crisis regions to supply themselves with drinkable water. It cleans sustainably without chemicals and without electricity! As a lightweight device, it can be transported on foot to the most remote locations and can be used immediately by non-professionals. It supplies up to 400 people per day.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Franz-Bernd Frechen developed the PAUL water backpack at the University of Kassel in the Department of Urban Water Management, funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU).
