For over 20 years, WDR has been awarding its jazz prize to musicians from NRW. The current winner for 2025 is the Cologne musician Simon Oslender. As a pianist, organist, keyboardist and composer, he is not only one of the jazz beacons of this federal state, but also has great merits for the Hammond organ, which he has made accessible to a wide audience with a new and stylistically open sound. On this year's tour through NRW, the WDR Big Band will also make a guest appearance in Münster and present the prizewinner in the foyer of the LWL Museum in the usual close-knit setting.
