we should never say that we drifted far – Benjamin Tiberius Adler & Daniel Hörner

In the organizer's words:

The duo show presents pictures, objects and installations in which materiality, texture and haptic quality play a fundamental role - for the artistic working method as well as for viewing. Playful, experimental and processual work becomes part of the artistic strategy.

Benjamin Tiberius Adler creates sculptural and installation works with an emphasis on materials. He thus counters the tendency of a creeping loss of the human being in the conscious handling of real objects. From his perspective, this is precisely the time in which "it is necessary to make anti-digital art" in order to maintain an attentive feeling and perception of reality. At the same time, the reference to the affluent society repeatedly plays a role in his works, which - without taking themselves too seriously - stimulate critical thinking in dealing with increasingly scarce resources.

Daniel Hörner's paintings are based on the repetition of formally simple, geometrically linear pictorial systems. His pictures and objects are casts of the outside world, taking up the walls of houses and moments with beer cans and sunsets. His abstraction, which appears minimalist from a distance, is also anchored in the natural and urban environment of patinated façades, windows and blinds - charged with romantic reminiscences of his own world of experience.

In his repetitive use of geometric forms, lines or labyrinthine structures, he consciously allows for disruptions and rule-breaking. In his paintings, paint - consisting of Vaseline, beeswax, linseed oil and pigments - becomes a relief that never dries completely by casually applying and removing layers of paint. Loosely sketched contours and subsequent incisions are created with a ballpoint pen. Here and there, threads from discarded works are removed from the canvas and pressed into the wet paint as a line. The paint then becomes the image carrier.
