Welcome to the center of life! What's going on here?
Have we arrived where we wanted to be? How do we manage to be content and have happy moments?
SWR presenter Florian Weber, in his late 40s (he says) - almost 50 (says his wife), represents his generation in a double therapy session with renowned psychiatrist Dr. Christian Peter Dogs. 90 minutes live on stage. This is risky, because Dogs is provocative in order to lure Weber and the audience out of their shells and make them reflect.
Where do I stand in my partnership, in my family, in my job, in my relationship with my parents, children and friends? What about performance, age, beauty, sex? Do I always have to be happy and smile? How do I get out of the hamster wheel that chases me through life?
These are topics that Weber and Dogs also address in their successful podcast "40+ - the podcast therapy".
Weber and Dogs often have different opinions. The therapist throws common psychological tips out the window. On stage, both reveal intimate and provocative things and are also eager to answer questions from the audience. A psycho-talk that surprises, amuses and sometimes gets to the heart of the matter.
An evening full of food for thought - entertaining and inspiring.
Florian Weber is a television presenter and podcast host, born in 1976. He is in the "middle of life", is married and the father of three children. He has been presenting numerous formats for SWR/ ARD for almost two decades, including the quiz show "Meister des Alltags", "Die Landesschau Baden-Württemberg" and the political talk show "Zur Sache Baden-Württemberg".
He commutes between Stuttgart and his family, with whom he lives in Chiemgau, to present his shows. More and more frequently, the important questions of life fall at his feet, and he himself is faced with the challenges that his generation has to overcome in partnerships, work, family and among friends.
In the "therapy hour" on stage with psychiatrist Dr. Christian Peter Dogs, authentic, very personal conversations arise that are provocative, honest and unusual.
Dr. Christian Peter Dogs is a doctor, psychiatrist and psychotherapist. The 72-year-old has built up three psychosomatic clinics and led them to success. His approach: the free choice of therapist, because "the chemistry has to be right" between therapist and patient. He is currently still practising in his private practice in Lindau on Lake Constance.
Dogs uses unconventional methods that lead to success more quickly. He brings in his own story, not only listens, but also provokes and confronts patients with an antithesis to encourage them to reflect. The "rebel of psychotherapy" questions many common methods of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.
With his book "Feelings are not an illness. Why we need them and how they make us happy", he was on the SPIEGEL bestseller list. In conversation with Florian Weber, Dogs reveals what he has to say about today's psychotherapy, how he overcame severe childhood trauma and how he leads us to more self-determination.
