An evening on democracy and society with three women from the book city of Leipzig:
a bookseller, an author and a publisher read, discuss and recommend
A democracy thrives on people who get involved. But democratic discourse is increasingly under threat here too. Three women from the book industry discuss how books can strengthen democracy, what role they play in society and which titles are particularly recommended.
On the podium: Dr. ISABELLE LEHN, PhD in rhetoric, graduate of the German Literature Institute Leipzig and freelance writer of narrative and essayistic prose; MARSHA RICHARZ, publisher, author, stage poet and founder of Brimborium Verlag, which has been enriching the literary scene since 2021; HEIKE LOBIN, bookseller and branch manager of the LUDWIG bookstore in the Promenaden Hauptbahnhof since 2005, who has been working in the book industry for over 40 years.
The event will be moderated by ANNE FRIEBEL, founder of the Leipzig publishing house Palomaa Publishing, the network The Female Publisher and host of the podcast "Die Bücher unserer Zukunft". The evening is open to all who see it as a space for diverse, equal and democratic coexistence. | Free admission
