Global politics seems more unpredictable than ever before. US President Trump has only been in office for a few months and it already gives the impression that geopolitics has been completely turned upside down. How will Germany under a new federal government and, above all, the European Union deal with these new realities? And what, in turn, is the US perspective on Germany and Europe?
One year after the European elections, we want to analyze the uncertain world situation from both a European and a US perspective. We want to ask where the EU is heading - internally with ever stronger forces on the right, but also externally with new heads in the Commission, in Parliament and in the capitals. Does the EU still have a place in the muscle-flexing of the major powers or does it now have to show its strength internationally? Can (or must) Germany once again assume a leading role in Europe? Or is the EU in danger of collapsing under the pressure of the crises? We are trying to find answers.

Together with the Stuttgart Adult Education Center, Pulse of Europe and the German-American Center, EZBW and EDS invite you to this information and discussion evening.

Catherine Kern (Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee for Europe and International Affairs in the Baden-Württemberg State Parliament - Bündnis '90/ Die Grünen), Carla Sappok (journalist and long-time ARD Brussels correspondent) and Dominik Tolksdorf (Associate Fellow for the USA and transatlantic relations at the German Council on Foreign Relations) will take part in the panel discussion.
