when the rape blossoms, the garfish spawns is the wisdom of fishermen in the southern baltic sea. during this period, garfish come close to the coast to spawn on the sandbanks. every year at the beginning of may, these two phenomena occur at the same time, but without a compelling connection. the beginning of may 1945 was the period in which my great-grandmother experienced violence in the countryside of mecklenburg. a photo taken at the same place in 1991 is the only expression in the silence of the family archive. the exhibition uses it as a narrative occasion to reflect on connections beyond causal relationships. in an associative way, relationships between humans and nature are created that hint at shared physicalities and make shared materialities tangible.
