This Danish feature film is based on the real events in Denmark at the end of the Second World War. Around 250,000 German refugees arrived in the country shortly before Denmark's liberation in 1945. They were often confronted with the hatred of many Danes after five years of German occupation. The film shows how the family of the principal of the Ryslinge folk high school on Funen is faced with a conflict of conscience when the school is turned into a camp for 500 German refugees. Most of the refugees from East and West Prussia, Gdansk and Pomerania who came across the Baltic Sea were elderly people and children in need.

The film was shot at the historical location of the Ryslinge Højskole. The film was directed by Oscar winner Anders Walter.

Anders Walter is a Danish director, screenwriter, illustrator and graphic artist. He became internationally known for his Oscar-winning short film Helium (2013) and has also directed feature films such as Kapringen (2012) and I Am Here (2014).
