This is what the movie is about:

Friends Anthony, Dignan and Bob want to escape their dreary suburban lives. Fast money is their answer to the average life they have been leading so far. To make this possible, Dignan first "frees" his buddy Anthony from a psychiatric clinic where Anthony is staying at his own request. The whole rescue operation is therefore a staged show, as Anthony could have left just as easily.

After the dramatic "escape", the three friends raid a bookshop and then flee to a motel. Anthony falls in love with the chambermaid Inez. This new love feeds him lasting doubts about his career as a petty criminal. Nevertheless, out of loyalty to Dignan, he takes part in one last risky coup...
