Westen (Spielfilm)

At the end of the 1970s, the young East German Nelly Senff (Jördis Triebel) travels to West Berlin with her son to start a new life. But in the Marienfelde emergency reception camp, she is questioned suspiciously by the Allied secret services. Instead of freedom, she once again experiences control and suspicion and her past catches up with her. As she fights for self-determination, she has to ask herself who she can really trust.
Christian Schwochow's drama is based on the novel "Campfire" by Julia Franck. The film tells an impressive story of hope, mistrust and the difficult search for a new home in another Germany.
