For almost three decades, WHY? have been successfully subverting expectations. On seven unpredictable and adventurous studio albums, the band led by songwriter Yoni Wolf from Cincinnati has explored the boundaries of psychedelic indie pop, hip-hop and electronic music.

Regardless of the genre experiments and thematic deviations, their discography is remarkably consistent and is carried by Wolf's disarming lyrical transparency. His lyrics are provocative, self-deprecating and always thoughtful, coming from a place of unabashed emotional candor. "The Well I Fell Into", WHY?'s eighth album, is Wolf's most coherent and poignant work.

The album is an autopsy of heartbreak, chronicling the highs and lows of a devastating breakup as he trades bitterness for healing. The album was released on Waterlines, Wolf's new label following in the footsteps of the artist collective he co-founded, Anticon. The 14 tracks are the band's most beautiful and immediate work to date and we look forward to welcoming the band to Mergener Hof.
