The unique Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra has been continuing the artistic legacy of the legendary Vienna Strauss Orchestra since 1966, after it was disbanded by Eduard Strauss I in New York in 1901. The grandson and last professional musician of the Strauss dynasty, Eduard Strauss II, revived the idea of the family's own orchestra by founding the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra. Since then, the orchestra has made guest appearances all over the world, presenting the works of the Strauss dynasty - above all the festive melodies of their artistic ancestors, the two "waltz kings", Johann Strauss (father) and Johann Strauss (son).

2025 marks the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss (son). On the occasion of this anniversary, the 42 musicians of the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra and conductor Johannes Wildner congratulate the jubilarian with their personal favorite works by the jubilarian Johann Strauss (son). In 2025, the jubilarian will be celebrated with 43 favorite works - a selection of these favorite works with 14 to 15 works will be performed in the Herkulessaal in the Munich Residence.

It is a great honor to be able to play in the traditional Viennese Johann Strauss Orchestra. The musicians of the orchestra are members of the most important Austrian top orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra.

Conducting the orchestra will be former Vienna Philharmonic conductor Johannes Wildner, one of Austria's leading conductors who, in addition to the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra, has worked with other renowned orchestras such as the Arena di Verona, the Prague State Opera, the London Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic.
