Danube-Rhine-Connection

As former First Kapellmeister of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and designated Principal Conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Marie Jacquot is certainly well known to some in Cologne. She has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since the 2023/24 season and delights audiences with her fresh interpretations as well as the stunningly brilliant sounds she is able to elicit from the orchestra. In her WDK program, Jacquot demonstrates an awareness of tradition by opening the concert with a Bruckner arrangement by the orchestra's founder Ferdinand Löwe. The rest of the program, in turn, is all about the Rhineland: María Dueñas returns to the WDK with the popular violin concerto by Cologne composer Max Bruch after her brilliant debut in the 2023/24 season. The crowning finale will be the Fifth Symphony by perhaps Bonn's most famous son: Ludwig van Beethoven.
