What would happen if an adult were forced to move back in with their parents?
Stephanie has no other choice. She has just lost her job as an architect, her fancy apartment is gone and her pubescent son thinks his father is much cooler. So Stephanie returns to "Hotel Mama" with all her belongings. But life with her mother Jaqueline is anything but harmonious. Each of the two women has to be patient in order to put up with the other's ingrained habits and quirks.
The 70-year-old Jaqueline is refreshingly energetic and is having an affair with Jean, her enterprising neighbor. But she decides to keep her new love and marriage plans a secret so as not to shock her children. But Jean insists that Jaqueline comes clean.
The constant excuses and invented occasions to spend time with Jean lead to "interesting contortions", which are interpreted by the worried Stephanie as the first signs of mental confusion and set off a family chain reaction.
Jaqueline decides to invite her family to a big dinner at "Hotel Mama" to confront her children with a side of her that they had never seen before. "Welcome to Hotel Mama" - a French comedy that explores life and relationships within the family with charming humor and lightness.
