With Love From Death Beach Mit Casey Spooner

Casey Spooner performs his new album With Love From Death Beach for the first time. The transcendental dance album consists of multi-layered compositions, produced by Julian Stetter.

As part of the program of events accompanying the exhibition DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG by Rirkrit Tiravanija, the Gropius Bau invites you to a long evening once a month. In addition to the concert, the evening will include a screening of a film by Rirkrit Tiravanija and a discussion between Isabelle Graw, Jackie Thomae and Brigitte Weingart.

With Love From Death Beach was written and recorded on a nudist beach in Mexico and continues the longstanding collaboration between Stetter and Spooner. It combines Stetter's experience in theater music and underground club culture with Spooner's raw vocals and intense lyrics. The interplay of Stetter's sense of drama and Spooner's preference for exaggerated characters and narratives creates an impressive techno-opera about sex and death.

Spooner is also showing a bronze sculpture for the first time at the Gropius Bau, which was created in collaboration with the Noack Bildgießerei.

Casey Spooner is a versatile artist and co-founder of the electroclash duo Fischerspooner. Spooner's work explores themes of spectacle, politics, glamor, sexuality, the body and emotion. His works have been exhibited in institutions such as the MoMA and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York), the Mumok (Vienna) and the Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin).
