The Siegerland Museum's collection contains numerous pieces of Biedermeier furniture from around 1820, of which Ulrike von Levetzow's salon is particularly noteworthy. In 1821, the then 72-year-old Johann Wolfgang von Goethe fell in love with the 17-year-old Ulrike von Levetzow and shortly afterwards even asked her to marry him - albeit in vain.
Outstanding works from the Düsseldorf Art Academy complement the furnishings from the 19th century. In particular, Italian landscapes and seascapes by the famous landscape painters Oswald (1827 - 1905) and Andreas Achenbach (1815 - 1910) have their place here.
