WOMEN IN JAZZ - LIZZ WRIGHT

The 20th WOMEN IN JAZZ festival doesn't start until May 2, 2025 in Halle. But the WOMEN IN JAZZ festival wanted to present this great artist in concert once again. Back in 2018, the artist performed in the almost sold-out Händelhalle following the release of her album GRACE. The festival slogan defined in 2006 definitely applies to this artist: "The magic of the female in jazz was the real motivation for the jazz festival Women in Jazz!".

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the jazz singer will be a guest in Halle for the second time at the Händel Halle. Again there is a new album under the title SHADOWS (released 12. 4. 2024, label Virgin). On her new album, the singer expands her musical palette to include the blues. But of course her fans don't have to do without her much-loved jazz and gospel songs.
Wright's debut album SALT was released back in 2003 and helped her make her breakthrough at the age of 23. Not only did it reach number 4 in the jazz album charts in the United States, it was also in the charts in Europe. Her second album DREAMING WIDE AWAKE (2005) and third album THE ORCHARD reached the top 3 of the US jazz charts. Lizz Wright performed her first concert tour in Germany in April 2008.

She moves her listeners with her exceptionally warm alto voice. Her timbre is always sensual, often erotic. Wright, who was born in Atlanta, studied singing in Vancouver and New York and now lives in Chicago, always performs with great artistry, but never artificially. You can let yourself fall into her music, you can lift yourself up with it, sometimes it leaves you speechless and even more often it simply makes you happy. Lizz Wright is setting the mood for the 20th WOMEN IN JAZZ festival with a special concert - we are looking forward to an emotional evening of a very special kind.
