Caroline Lerbro, this year's residency artist from Linz, Austria, presents a work-in-progress show of works created during her month-long stay at Künstlerhaus Dortmund.

About the artist:
Caroline Lerbro (*1995) is a Swedish artist who works internationally in the media of sculpture and installation. She currently lives in Linz, where she is completing a Master's degree in Sculpture Concepts / Ceramics.

In her artistic practice, Lerbro explores the behavior of materials by manipulating their functions and physical properties in alternative, often unexpected ways. She combines these with found or prefabricated objects, following a highly intuitive design process.

She refers to her abstract sculptural forms as "mass bodies" - a strategy she uses to refer to a being that is neither human nor alive.

During her stay in Dortmund, Lerbro explored the city and its surroundings and developed new works. In doing so, she has continued to pursue her method of transforming building materials into sculptural forms and expanding them by collecting local materials.

Since 2010, the Künstlerhaus Dortmund and the Atelierhaus Salzamt in Linz have organized a regular artistic exchange between the two cities and regions.
