Sharing Momentum

Playful Partnering

10.-12.07.2025

Maxime & Mees focus their work on partnering based on sharing momentum rather than force to move another body and therefore make no distinction between genders and traditional partnering roles. They encourage a playful approach to partnering and provide a warm and safe environment for experimentation. They build confidence by explaining different ways of weight sharing in the warm up phase and increasing from smaller to larger lifts as the workshop progresses. To put this into practice, they will teach some of the MAMM repertoire and share the movement language they have developed together.

In their work, Maxime & Mees focus on partnering based on sharing momentum, not strength, to move another body, therefore making no distinction between gender & traditional partnering roles. They encourage a playful approach to partnering and provide a warm and safe environment for exploration. They will build trust by explaining different ways of weight sharing in the warming up and build up throughout the workshop from smaller to bigger lifts. Bringing this into practice they will teach some MAMM repertoire, sharing the movement language they developed together.

Collectief MAMM

Collectief MAMM consists of Maxime Abbenhues and Mees Meeuwsen, who live in Amsterdam. They found each other through their love of partnering and risk-taking. In their work, they explore the boundaries of dance and acrobatics.

MAMM is currently supported by the Nieuwe Makersregeling (FPK) 2024-2026. Their work has been shown at numerous festivals and theaters in the Netherlands and internationally in Korea, Italy, France, the UK, Finland and Germany. MAMM won the Mittelfest 2023, the YAA Award 2024 and was nominated for the Next Step Award 2024.

WORKSHOPS

In each workshop you will work intensively with one of the artists over 3 days.

Each workshop is offered for two levels:
SOFT - slower tempo, for relaxed people or those with little previous experience
INTENSIVE - faster tempo, for the motivated or with more dance experience & professionals

SUMMER ACADEMY
