Workshop with artist Sophia Schach: In this workshop, stuffed animals are created from fabric, absorbent cotton and colorful threads - designed by you and sewn with support. While you are sewing, you can also build caves together from blankets, cushions and chairs. We will think about what makes a good cave, share personal stories and take photos of your constructions at the end - with or without you as the cave dwellers.

Leader: Sophia Schach + 3 supervisors

Target group: Kids (6-10 years) + teens + adults

Size: max. 10 children + max. 10 teens/adults

Recommended donation incl. materials: 10-20 euros

Drinks/snacks: water, fruit, cookies

ABOUT SOPHIA SCHACH

Sophia Schach (she / her) lives and works in Cologne. In 2017 she completed her studies in Integrated Design at the Cologne International School of Design, since then she has been working interdisciplinary at the interface of art, scenography, design and music. In her artistic practice, she deals with the transience of spaces, objects and materials as well as with community and exchange. Her works focus on the beauty of the moment, the playful and the process of decay. Her works are always enlivened by the presence and participation of people: the focus is therefore also on the creation of meeting places that promote intimacy and community. Her works have recently been shown at Gold+Beton and La Felce in Cologne, among others.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition soft intentions is about softness in all its facets: about soft, textile materials, but also about physicality, emotionality, vulnerability, emotional labor and care work. A soft experiment, a space for action guided by tenderness, closeness and attentive interaction. An invitation to explore the extent to which softness can also be resistant.

The exhibition builds on the artistic work We in the Cave by Cologne-based artist Sophia Schach in the cave. Wir in der Höhle is not only a walk-in installation, but also a stage for an extensive, interdisciplinary program with performances, workshops, concerts and reading sessions.

The exhibition is curated by Amelie Gappa as part of the 10th anniversary of the intersectional-feminist initiative And She Was Like: BÄM!
