Workshop: Simple methods for using Japanese knotweed
Even in the middle of the city, we are surrounded by interesting resources that need much more attention. This workshop is dedicated to just such a resource, an invasive plant that can be found in many places in the Ruhr area. The Japanese knotweed (Fallopia Japonica) can be used in many different ways, which will be presented in the workshop. Participants can also experiment with the material themselves and actively try out some techniques, as the plant can be used as a decorative veneer, for basket weaving or to make paper, for example. The aim is to regularly harvest the plant as a society in order to utilize its potential and at the same time support its containment.
