WORTCAFÉ - Music. Lyrics. Conversations.

The Wortcafé is not a typical stage evening - it's more like a living room with microphones. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. Sometimes funny, sometimes thought-provoking. Always special.

This is where musicians meet word artists. We listen to songs, lyrics, stories - and in between there are also a few questions. The artists talk about what drives them, what moves them and what concerns them in their everyday lives. The result is an evening of encounters and sometimes a little magic.

An evening that goes deep but can also be light. And which creates a space for people, stories and connection.

Meral Ziegler
Meral Ziegler writes for the page, stage, TV and feature film formats, mediates art and literature and moderates various events. The text collection "CON TEXT" was published in 2021 and the youth book "Feier dich!" in 2020. Ziegler has hosted the podcast "Coole und normale Sachen" (bildundtonfabrik) since 2024.

Friday
Freitag makes music at the center of cognitive dissonance - groovy, cerebral piano-poetry-pop between lightness and drama. Themes such as insecurities, friendship and world confusion meet tenderly melting harmonies and spicy wit.

Alina Schmolke
Alina Schmolke, born in Hamburg in 2001, is the U20 NRW champion and has been performing on poetry slam stages since 2016. Her texts tell stories about breasts, trampolines and plush alpacas. She studies politics, sociology and media studies and organizes slams in NRW.

Abenasua
Abenasua is a singer-songwriter and makes German "modern soul" - RnB, neo-soul, pop and her own lyrics about emotions, relationships and inner worlds. She has been performing live since 2023, including at the FLINTA*FUSION Festival Cologne, Blend Bazar Dortmund and Soli Sounds Nuremberg.

Jana Goller
Jana Goller has been part of the German-speaking poetry slam scene for 10 years. The queer author translates personal struggles into gags and profound texts. She is active in feminist associations and was a finalist in the 2021 NRW Slam Championships.

Moderation: Katharina Kohler
With a heart for honest conversations, a penchant for in-between lines and the ability to connect people on and in front of the stage, Katharina leads through the evening.
She has been a presenter and curator in the cultural sector for over seven years and is an integral part of the KKT team.

At the Word Café, she ensures that individual contributions become a shared experience - with humor, warmth and space for everything that wants to be said, felt or asked. She is particularly interested in genuine encounters. Stage and audience at eye level - that's what makes the Wortcafé special for her.
