The "Words of Resistance" series for democracy, diversity and freedom has been taking place in Heidelberg for more than a year: Against the backdrop of the CORRECTIV revelations about the meeting of radical right-wingers in Potsdam and in the wake of the demonstration "No step to the right in Heidelberg. Never again is now" demonstration with over 18,000 participants in January last year, Heidelberg cultural institutions such as the Karlstorbahnhof, the Theater der Stadt Heidelberg, the DAI Heidelberg, the Gloria-Filmkunsttheater, authors, musicians, activists, pupils and students have joined forces in an active alliance - initiated and organized by Literaturherbst Heidelberg (Veronika Haas) and the Freie Theaterverein Heidelberg e.V. (Matthias Paul). Their common concern: a defensive democracy needs a defensive culture - also on the stages of our city. The event series "Words of Resistance" was recently awarded the baton prize for solidarity and humanity.

On May 8, the 80th anniversary of the liberation from the National Socialists, we want to commemorate the resistance against the fascist state of injustice together, but we will also resist the tendencies and activities of the "new right" that is gaining strength worldwide - in word, sound and deed!
