Writers' Stage. Neue Literatur aus Berlin

In the organizer's words:

Berlin's literary scene is on the move: Traditional publishers have returned to the city and numerous new publishers have emerged. We would like to dedicate a separate event format at PalaisPopulaire to both: "writers'stage - new literature from Berlin". Katharina von Uslar and Edgar Rai will select the most exciting voices from the current publishing programs, introduce the authors and talk to them about their new novels.

In the opening event of the series, we welcome three young authors to the stage: Nina Bußmann, Paulina Czienskowski and Eva Strasser. In her novel "Drei Wochen im August" (Suhrkamp), Nina Bußmann subtly, precisely and empathetically explores the challenges her protagonists face in finding their place between longings, inadequacies and doubts and reconciling with themselves and their environment. In "Dem Mond geht es gut" (Blumenbar), Paulina Czienskowski has composed a song about motherhood with her very own language and an almost gospel-like rhythm, which nevertheless allows each woman to become a novel character in her own unique way. Eva Strasser impresses with "Wildhof" (Wagenbach), an astonishingly unconventional novel that thrives on powerful and impressive characters.
