A Christmas market from Münster for Münster!

A small but exquisite Christmas market enriches the city on Harsewinkelplatz. "X-MS" takes place right next to Thomas Schütte's cherries, one of the most famous works of art in the sculpture projects in the old town: The Christmas market by Münster for Münster. "We attach great importance to local and regional products as well as sustainability," says Wolfgang Nietan, who organizes the market together with Bernd Redeker from Hafenarena GmbH, describing the idea. "That's why we've only invited selected suppliers from Münster to set up our stands."

In addition, there is no disposable tableware at the food stands. The huts, which are decorated with Münster's own colours, are upcycled strawberry and asparagus stands from Münster that would otherwise spend the winter in storage. Part of the special concept was that the huts were provided by the organizer and could also be rented on a weekly basis. This created a low-threshold offer for exhibitors.

In this way, "X-MS" aims to expand the range of markets in the city center, making it even more attractive for tourists and Münster residents. Harsewinkelplatz offers a wonderful atmosphere for this in a central location. The organizers attach particular importance to the quality of the atmosphere and plenty of space, which should invite people to linger and is particularly family-friendly.

The local concept also includes a varied triad of exhibitors, restaurateurs and events. In the 20 or so huts, only regional creatives, artists, craftspeople and manufacturers present their contemporary and diverse products. These include hellomini, Höpinger Spielewerkstatt, JVA Münster, Skatan LLC, Feinkunsthaus, Münster 4 Life, Omelinchen, Feinkunsthaus, Piephaus, WK-Keramik, Grüne Oase, Egotrips, Heimat Heroes, Sdjools, Landlust-Verlag, feine art, Allwetterzoo and Skate-Aid.

There will also be a variety of catering options. The range of hot drinks is diverse: vegan organic vintner mulled wine in red, white and rosé, hot Hugo and mulled gin specially created for X-MS by Heimat Heroes.

The range of drinks is rounded off with organic cocoa from Hof Feckenbrock in Telgte and cola from Liba.

The food on offer is also regional. In addition to vegan and vegetarian specialties from Al- Hayat, this year for the first time there will be "Ibérico Westphalia": products from free-range Ibérico pigs cooked on a charcoal grill; e.g. bratwurst, currywurst, kielbasa and lobster steak.

Pommbuur from Roxel will be serving exclusively vegan organic produce from the Münsterland region and preparing chips from fresh potatoes directly on site.

The offer is rounded off by the "Cibaria-VollKornBioBäckerei" with Christmas pastries.

The team also attaches particular importance to promoting voluntary work. One of the huts is made available free of charge to various initiatives; this year, these include Aidshilfe, draußen!, Foodsharing, sea-eye and other exciting initiatives.

The market will be complemented by a surprising program of artists to create a Christmassy atmosphere.
