Ya-Wen Fu: NON-BODY

In the organizer's words:

Body, sound, control: in NON-BODY , dance, sound and a digitally controlled mechanical installation combine to create an impressive interplay between resistance and adaptation. On the occasion of the WRO Media Art Biennale Wroclaw, Ya Wen Fu is developing her new art project in collaboration with the dancer Shu-Yi Chou and the sound artist Daniel Romero Calderón. The dancer Shu-Yi Chou is connected to a digitally controlled acoustic-mechanical apparatus via body extensions and wire ropes. This apparatus exerts traction on his body and converts his movements into sound. The movements are actively anticipated by the apparatus. Shu-Yi Chou has to react with counter-forces and change his usual movements. He can adapt or resist, but he has to deal with the future, which is digitally and mechanically predetermined by the apparatus.

There will be two performances: at 4pm and 7pm. The second performance will be followed by an artist talk.
