YAGODY • Folk trifft Zukunft • Europa Tour 2025

One of the most exciting voices on the Eastern European music scene is making a stop in the Rems-Murr district: YAGODY from Lviv (Ukraine) will be performing live at Kulturhaus Schwanen on January 9, 2025 - with an intense mix of traditional Ukrainian folk, theatrical aesthetics and a sound that feels like the present day.

Since their foundation in 2016, YAGODY - founded by Zoryana Dybovska together with students from the theater faculty - have been researching the musical traditions of the Ukrainian regions. They collect voices, rhythms and stories and use them to create sound rituals that permeate both the audience and the space.

The ensemble thinks music performatively: concerts become staged encounters in which archaic chants, polyrhythmic arrangements and finely woven soundscapes intertwine. Guitar, accordion, drums and the drymba - a traditional jew's harp - provide a solid foundation for the polyphonic vocal art.

Whether at international festivals such as the Pannonica Folk Festival in Poland or the Telemarkfestivalen in Norway - YAGODY enchant. At the beginning of 2024, they not only came fifth in the Ukrainian preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest, but also won the hearts of an audience of millions.

"Every song is like a love letter from the past," says the band - and hits a nerve: YAGODY's music is both memory and departure, sound archive and vision.
