Zeal & Ardor on tour in Germany in spring 2025

Zeal & Ardor are setting new standards and returning with full force: Their fourth studio album "GREIF"
brings an even darker and more captivating facet to their unique sound. Frontman and creative center of the band, Manuel Gagneux, has created a sonic journey that has long since catapulted the band from the Swiss metal scene into the international rock sphere.

Since their groundbreaking debut "Devil Is Fine" in 2017, Zeal & Ardor have continued to develop and expand their musical depth and versatility. With "GREIF", the band opens a new era: haunting guitar riffs, polyphonic vocals and an unparalleled intensity inspire fans and new listeners alike. The songs take up themes such as self-assertion, inner conflicts and toxic relationships and wrap them up in gripping sounds that captivate from the first to the last second. "Our experiments with different soundscapes reach a new level on this album," says Gagneux. Inspired by the Basel tradition of the "griffin" as a symbol of resistance and the desire for freedom, he weaves this message into his music. For the first time, Gagneux actively involved his bandmates - guitarist Tiziano Volante, singers Marc Obrist and Denis Wagner, bassist Lukas Kurmann and drummer Marco Von Allmen - in the creative process, resulting in a tangible band dynamic. "After seven years of touring, it was simply time for us to develop this sound together," says Gagneux. The album transports the band's live feeling directly to vinyl and captures a collective energy that shapes each member in their own way. "A collective journey where everyone contributes their influences," adds Obrist. With energetic songs such as the first single "Fend You Off", the driving "Kilonova" and the powerful "Clawing Out", "GREIF" unfolds a musical palette that ranges from melancholic depth to rebellious rebellion. "We wanted to show emotional diversity as well as expand our sound even more," explains Gagneux. The title "GREIF" represents the strength and independence of the Basel mythical creature of the same name, values that are deeply rooted in Zeal & Ardor's musical philosophy. With the new album in the bag, Zeal & Ardor will be embarking on an intensive tour of Germany next year, bringing their captivating stage show to four cities. From intimate venues to renowned halls, fans will have the opportunity to experience the new music live together with old classics. With their unmistakable stage presence, the tour promises a special opportunity to enjoy their full range in an intense live setting.
