Zelia Fonseca präsentiert: AMARÉ feat. Marcio Tubino

Zelia Fonseca, guitarist, singer and songwriter from the south-east of Brazil, has been shaping the Kulturfenster's "welten hören" series for several years now. At "Zelia presents..." every concert is unique, as Zelia always plays with different guests.

This time she presents AMARÉ. The trio navigates between the rich heritage of Brazilian music and the wide freedom of jazz improvisation. The name reflects a double meaning - "A Maré" (the tides) and "Amar é..." (to love means...) - and is emblematic of the sonic fluidity and emotional depth that characterize their music, where award-winning singer Céline Rudolph (German Jazz Award 2024) meets the subtle pianist Henrique Gomide and the virtuoso guitarist João Luís Nogueira - both from Brazil. Together, they anchor their compositions in the rhythmic subtleties of Brazilian traditions and at the same time venture into sonic expeditions with refined textures and bold improvisations. On stage, "AMARÉ" creates an atmosphere that is both intense and electrifying - combining moments of deep introspection with bursts of untamed energy. Their concerts sound familiar and new at the same time, crossing boundaries and opening up a fresh perspective on modern jazz, infused with the pulsating heartbeat of Brazil. Their debut album will be released in fall 2025 on Challenge Records.

Marcio Tubino (saxophone, flute, percussion)The Brazilian Márcio Tubino has lived in Munich for many years, where he is one of the most sought-after jazz musicians. As a saxophonist, flutist, percussionist and also as a composer and arranger, the Brazilian has worked with important musicians on the European jazz scene. To date, he has recorded seven CDs with various formations, including the "Tukamama" project with Martin Kälberer.
