In the organizer's words:

Cut-Out Fuzz Rock * Paste-Up Noise * Shoegaze

The songs of ZENQ are cut-outs: just as the band name was cut out somewhere in the neighbouring town, ZENQ decontextualize the fuzzy energy of Dinosaur Jr, introverted Seattle unhappiness, the noisy vulnerability of the East Westphalian school of rock around Sharon Stoned and the will to the hookline of the Pixies, for example.

ZENQ's songs are paste-ups: in the new location, something very contemporary emerges from the cut-out material. Sometimes reduced, sometimes
loud & quiet, raw, glitchy & without a retro attitude. See how far burning houses glow!

Maybe this is what indie rock sounds like today? JMascis would answer: "All labels are offensive in some way."
