Make a wish! ...the climate is changing, people are moving, fleeing from wars and natural disasters, we all have to reorient ourselves, even if we build the borders higher with stones and barbed wire and set our walls of love,

Make a wish ! The Ensemble Dégénéré takes you by the hand and gives you the opportunity to share your wishes. They give you the chance to help shape the "end of everything"(!) anonymously.

The ground they tread with you is constantly being rewritten by new rules and paradigms. It has always been flexible and reinterpretable for you. You use this, coupled with a look at the history of recent decades and the wishes of the various systems, to create an echo and play with time.

Through the direct experience of the collapse of the former Eastern Bloc, once also known as the Zone, they jump between the systems and corresponding rules. Having grown up in the area of the former GDR, they see the opportunity to find new ways through the wishes of the different systems and to make you part of the still unknown history.

Make a wish!

Your wishes flow into existing, already written texts. They vary with free improvisations, newly created texts and are performed live during the performance. They cannot be sorted chronologically, they react interactively between sound, song, location, theme and performers. The fnal text is created for the presentation. An experiment. The tones/sounds are also created live in parallel, with the help of self-developed devices such as simple audio oscillators, synthesizers and modified guitars. These are filtered and looped through more complex effects, or made audible with the help of instruments.

Thematically we deal with the terms: Zone, desire and time, jumping between systems and corresponding rules. Having grown up in the former GDR and now based in Berlin and Cologne, Ensemble Dégénéré is searching for new audio-fictional paths. By directly experiencing the collapse of the former Eastern Bloc, widely referred to as the Zone, we see the opportunity to find a different perspective on the history of the last decades through the desires of the different systems. A zone can include and exclude, at the same time desires can unite but also divide and divide society. Where something is let go, something new is created. Things start to move. The wish shapes the movement, explains the step and the direction. Some wish for one thing and move in that direction in the zone. We ask questions about the wishes of those who don't dare to wish for anything, out of fear of what was, what is and what will be, and those who are sure of their wishes. We awaken an echo by playing with time...

Ensemble Dégénéré are Juliane Meckert and Alexis Ludwig. Together they explore the zone between sound art, spoken word, live electronics and playing with time.
Juliane Meckert was born in Leipzig in 1982 and works as a freelance actress, director, theater pedagogue (BuT®) with intercultural competence, musician and author in Berlin. Alexis Ludwig, born in Leipzig in 1978, has lived in Cologne since 2013, where he performs irregularly as a musician, DJ and electronics tinkerer under the name Graneg Sandpapier.
